Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) - Parker - Medium
Parker is a three year old Parson Russell Terrier. He is approximately 20 pounds and full of energy. He loves to take walks and be outdoors and run!! He will make a great companion for someone who likes to hike or jog. His trainer at the California Correctional Facility Pups On Parole Program describes him as having a content spirit with the gift of keeping himself occupied. The trainer also says that Parker is "blossoming into a loving and obedient dog". Parker will do best in a home with a fenced yard and would perfer to be the only dog. The Pups On Parole program started in June of xxxx to help give homeless dogs a second chance at finding an adoptive family. All the dogs in the program spent time in our local county animal shelter waiting for their owners to redeem them or to be adopted into a new family. Some of these dogs were scheduled for euthanasia prior to being placed in our program. The selected dogs are brought current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered if necessary, micro chipped, and heart worm tested. They are taken to the California Correctional Center Firehouse in Susanville, California, where they are assigned to a trainer/ inmate fire fighter. The trainers help these dogs by bathing and grooming them, and then train them in basic obedience. Giving them the extra time and attention they need to become wonderful family companions. Most graduates are house trained and know basic obedience commands. As of August 1, xxxx, 341 dogs have been adopted through this program. To meet any of the Pups On Parole, arrangements must be made in advance.
